SUSTAINABILITY

INTRODUCTION

The aim is to create differentiation based on dynamism; innovation intertwined with biodiversity and sustainability.

Be as sustainable as possible. Being sustainable is not only taking care of the environment, but also take care of the economic and social part.

Regarding the environment, I start with the floor because it is one of the most relevant pieces in my terroir, it is irreplaceable, and I preserve it without chemically or physically harming it. Also fostering healthy competition between the various plant species that can cohabit in a vineyard.

Regarding the water we use, we try to manage consumption without waste and give it the best use for the various tasks, we use rainwater to make works in the vineyard for example. The energy I have comes from suppliers that only use renewable energies, whether wind, water or solar.

I have been reducing the use of dry materials in packaging, giving ever greater emphasis on the concept of circular economy whose reuse of bottles and boxes is a good example.

In the winery, I have favored the use of native raw materials such as concrete, whose material is used to build my own winemaking and aging tanks which, in addition to minimizing energy and water consumption, also gives the wine a most differentiating feature that is sustainable and reusable and makes us spend less energy due to the thermal inertia of the material.

As for the social and economic aspect, in addition to job creation, wine tourism also has boosted local commerce and despite large investments in my year on year the consolidation of the business has been improved.

Viticulture plays a very important role in maintaining and promoting the biodiversity. As my vines are old, they are also multi-caste and multi-clonal and are mostly smallholdings, the fact that I preserve them makes it preserve also, the existing biodiversity. The vines are interspersed with other crops such as for example olive groves, pine forests and “bush” which in a natural way constitute refuges for the animals there. One of the basic techniques for the promotion and preservation of this biodiversity is not using herbicides.
